Emerald Australian Shepherds was established in 1995, when I bought my first Aussies. I intended to enter Frisbee competition. Glinda and Oz, my Aussies, were great. But it turned out I have no aptitude for throwing a Frisbee. Splat.
Thanks to a twist of marvelous fate, the Aussie conformation community took me in and helped me get started in the show world.
I am always mindful of that gift and try to give back to others the kindness and mentorship that have been offered to me through the years.
After moving from Texas to the Seattle area in 1999, the kennel name was changed to Emerald City Australian Shepherds. Emerald City Aussies is located in the picturesque hills of Woodinville, WA.
My focus is on competition, and I am proud to be Tango's initial handler and trainer--placing him in the ASCA top 10 his second year in the show ring.
Years of persistence paid off and in 2017-2019 we were thrilled to see Tango take nearly every major honor available to an Australian shepherd. What a thrill it is now to see his offspring garner top honors. His daughter is currently a multiple Best in Show winner and is America's #3 AKC Australian Shepherd.
The Emerald City breeding program is intended to produce healthy, happy, adaptable, intelligent Aussies that meet or exceed the breed standard. We spend tremendous time researching lines to bring together only the best for breeding.
Emerald City Aussies are motivated, and love to train. We emphasize socialization and adaptability to a range of circumstances. Our dogs are family members first, and competitors second.
All dogs used for breeding are conformation champions, with verified genetic, radiographic and ophthalmic certifications
